The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajuddeen has symphasised with victims of flooding which devastated Trademore Estate Lugbe Abuja and other places due to heavy rainfall witnessed in recent days.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi on Saturday, he lamented that,that families found themselves in such difficult situation as they lost properties worth millions of Naira due to the devastation caused by the flood that ravaged Trademore Estate Lugbe and other places.
The FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) had on Friday said that, 116 were affected by the flood at Trademore Estate.
Abbas therefore sympathized with the residents of the Trademore Estate over the unfortunate incident which he described as highly regrettable.
Speaker Abbas therefore called on the authorities to swing into action to avert the reoccurrence of the incident and reiterated the need for the public to take all necessary measures to avoid flood prone areas.
He recalled that relevant government agencies had before the rainy season alerted the public to the possibility of flood in some parts of the country, saying the public must heed such warnings.
