The re-instated chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhuyi Rimingado, has vowed to reopen probe into the alleged dollar bribe video of the immediate past governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
He made the promise in an interview with DCL Hausa after his re-instatement by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Wednesday.
He said he would investigate the former governor and redouble his effort in the fight against corruption in the state.
He said, ““I’m happy that the state government has complied with the court order and asked me to return to office. I’m happy with the kind of goodwill and congratulations trailed my reinstatement. It means people are happy with what we have been able to achieve in the past, and I would make sure we put in our best.
“As I said before my suspension, we are investigating the video, and when my reinstatement was announced, I also declared that we will continue from where we stopped. All the cases that people thought would be swept under the carpet will be revisited by God’s grace.
“Nothing will hinder the fight against corruption, we’ll build on the success recorded before my suspension, because there are a lot of expectations on us and we can’t afford to disappoint.
“And in the past, we didn’t prosecute people much because we adopted the carrot and stick approach. But I have learnt some experience during my suspension, and we will make some changes.
“Although I didn’t regret any of my actions, I’m aware that fighting corruption is not easy. So I won’t relent. until we get rid of corruption in the system”.
It could be recalled that, Rimingado was suspended by the former governor after opening investigations into contracts allegedly awarded to companies linked to his family.
Ganduje had been enmeshed in various corruption allegations especially over the video clips showing him allegedly receiving a bribe from a contractor.
The former governor was seen in the alleged video stuffing wads of dollar notes into his pockets which were believed to be kickbacks from contractors.
