A section of former aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state under the auspices of ‘Bauchi State House of Assembly Aspirants Forum has called on the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and sitting senator representing Bauchi central Halliru Jika to come back to his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It will be recalled that the senator lost the APC governorship primaries and defected to the NNPP to pick the ticket for the 2023 governorship election in the state where he was defeated by Bala Mohammed of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
However, the forum through its spokesperson Honourable Abubakar Bello in a press release issued to journalists yesterday asked the APC stakeholders in the state and nation to prevail on the senator to come back to ‘his former home’.
According to him, Jika was among the bigwigs that kept the party lively and formidable in the state but quit aftermath the outcome of the primaries opining that now that elections are over, he needs to rejoin it and strategize ahead of next elections.
“We call on president-elect and his vice to do everything humanly possible to bring him back to his normal house because without people like him, APC in Bauchi state will remain an opposition party.
“We the APC State Assembly Aspirants Forum 2023 joined hands to call on him to come back and build the party to avoid relegation. He is the only person who can unite the party members by working with every stakeholder and aspirant that lost election”. He said.
