A group, Gombe Concerned Youth Forum, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari over his approval for the commencement of the operations of the new North East Development Commission (NEDC) in acting capacity.
Members of the group reaffirmed their support to the New Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of the Commission, Umar Abubakar Hashidu.
At a Press Conference on Friday, addressed by the Convener, Abdullahi A Abdullahi in Gombe the group reaffirmed their support for the President’s decision approving thecommencement of the operations of the constituted NEDC Board.
“We are here to reiterate the position of the majority of Gombe state Youth, we are using this medium to congratulate the Governing Council and particularly the Ag. MD/CEO Mr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu PhD of North-East Development Commission. Umar was born and bred in Gombe state, he is a true son of the state like all of us here.
“We want to assure Nigerians and particularly those in our Neighboring state within Northeast region – that in terms of managerial and leadership prerequisites such as ‘capacity’, experience, ability to deliver, courage and most importantly integrity Dr. Umar has distinguished himself by gathering all the needed qualification and vast experiences to manage the affairs of the commission, this can be seen in the potent of his curricula vitae.
“We are reaffirming our support for his appointment and we want to assure you that this is the position of majority of ‘patriotic’ citizens of Gombe state, and most especially the Young people of the entire Northeast region”. The group stated.
The group reminded that, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate resumption of duty by the new established Governing council of NEDC on Acting capacity in order to avoid leadership vacuum in the commission subject to their confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
“If you can recall vividly in 2015 we invited some of you to this kind of a press conference to reaffirm our support for the nomination of Hajia Amina J Muhammad as ministerial nominee by President Muhammadu Buhari after some unscrupulous and acclaimed patriots came out to protest against her innocent nomination, we invited you here today following similar kind of opprobrious act by some cohort of grovelers.
“We want to assure Nigerians and particularly those in our Neighboring state within Northeast region – that in terms of managerial and leadership prerequisites such as ‘capacity’, experience, ability to deliver, courage and most importantly integrity Dr. Umar has distinguished himself by gathering all the needed qualification and vast experiences to manage the affairs of the commission, this can be seen in the potent of his curricula vitae”.
The group called the attention of the Acting MD/CEO to expand and channeled his consultations to collective leaders from Gombe state the Northeast region as a whole as heading the NEDC will require the ebullience of the young in combination of the wisdom and experience of the old – to achieve the mandate of the commission.
“In Gombe state, Our leaders have always supported us, we may have our internal wranglings and differences but i want to assure you, when it comes to Gombe Sons and Daughters we all rally together to support the person to ensure he or she succeed in this kind of National Assignment, because it is within our conviction that – his success is our success and his failure(God forbid) is also the failure of the state.
“We want to once again thank President Muhammadu Buhari for choosing from among the young generation to pivot the affairs of the commission, and we are calling on all our leaders in the state ranging from key stakeholders, our traditional rulers under the leadership of our ‘most beloved’ Emir and Chairman Gombe state council of Chiefs HRH. Alhaji. (Dr) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III who has always been our source of inspiration, and most importantly our state Governor His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya who by extension is the leader of the over 5 million Citizens of the state irrespective of our diverse affiliations, to rally, support and guide this young Man to be able to achieve the task before him.
“This Man is an innocent Citizen of our state with no record of rancour or score with anyone, we believe he deserve your ‘cuddle’ and with your guidance and usual cooperation he will get it right, and if he get it right you will be more proud”.
