The All Progressive Congress (APC) Campaign Council in Bauchi State, says the party will review the lease agreement of the state-owned companies if elected in the March 11 gubernatorial election.
Mr Sabo Muhammad, Chairman, APC Media and Publicity Sub Committee, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Bauchi.
The conglomerate referred to “Bauchi Legacy Projects” include Bauchi Meat Factory, Bauchi Furniture Company, Bauchi State Fertiliser and Blending Company, Wikki Hotels and Tours as well as Zaranda Hotel and Towers.
In August 2022; the PDP-led administration in the state announced the leasing of the companies which were moribund over the years.
However, Mohammed said that the governorship candidate of the party, retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, would review the concession agreement if given the mandate.
“The concession agreement for the companies is not in the best interest of the state and, therefore, it should be reviewed holistically.
“We are going to operate a just and an egalitarian system to give justice to all parts of the system,” he said.
According to him, the APC administration will introduce viable programmes to empower youth and women, to reduce poverty and enhance wealth creation in the society.
To address unemployment, Mohammed said the administration would establish 23 skills acquisition centres across the 20 local government areas and senatorial districts to enhance skills and vocational training in the state.
Commenting on health, Mohammad said the APC administration would declare an emergency in the sector to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
He said that it would also set up mobile clinics to enhance quality healthcare service delivery at the grassroots.
“We will encourage youth and women to study medicine and other related disciplines to address manpower gaps in the health sector.
“”The dwindling issues of human resource for health must be prioritised to reduce the over-burden of health workers to patient ratio in health facilities for quality care,” he said.
He further said that the APC administration would strengthen coordination with development organisations to ensure effective utilisation of health interventions to reinvigorate the sector.
“The APC administration will ensure sustainability of interventions by implementing partners through step-down training and political commitments”.
