The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Benue, Mr Titus Uba, on Wednesday in Makurdi unveiled his blueprint christened “Soil as our Oil.”
Uba said that the blueprint is anchored on two critical issues of security and economic development of the state leveraging agriculture.
He noted that every blueprint comes with a slogan that gives direction to any administration.
According to him, every section of the country is uniquely endowed; Benue is endowed with good soil for agricultural activities.
“This informed our decision to choose the slogan. We do not have a bogus blueprint. Our blueprint is anchored on only two critical issues,” Uba said.
The governorship candidate said that he would leverage mechanised agriculture and the rich available natural resources to develop the state.
In his remarks, Gov. Samuel Ortom, said that the blueprint captured all areas of Benue needs, beyond what is contained and addressed in his administration’s policy document.
“The document will be of immense value to people of the state,” Ortom said.
The governor expressed optimism that Uba and his running mate, Mr John Ngbede would do better than himself given their experiences in governance.
“Uba served as Speaker of the Benue Assembly for two terms while Ngbede served as a Commissioner for eight years and he even served as the state Chairman of PDP for several years. So, the terrain of governance is surely a familiar one,” he said.
The Director-General, Uba/Ngbede Campaign Organisation, Dr Cletus Tyokyaa, said that unveiling of the document would enable Benue people to know what Uba would do for the progress of the state.
Also, the Acting state Chairman of the party, Mr Isaac Mffo, disclosed that the document was the cumulative ideas of the people that aspired with Uba, stating that it was a wonderful document put together by the best of the brains.
