Over 700 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Birnin Kudu local government area of Jigawa State, have defected and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This was revealed in a statement by the Deputy Director, Media and Publicity, Santuraki Campaign Directorate (SCD), Umar Kyari Jitau Madamuwa on Wednesday.
According to the statement, their defection is coming barely 72 hours after the defection of the former Jigawa state deputy governor, Alh. Ahmed Mahmoud Gumel who had earlier disclosed that more APC members will defect and join the PDP.
Gumel while speaking at the brief ceremony at his residence in Dutse, assured the defectors that, PDP is the only party that has what it takes to govern Jigawa state and Nigeria.
He therefore urged them to campaign vigorously for the PDP to enable it succeed during the forthcoming 2023 elections.
