As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State flags off campaigns for the 2023 general elections, the Gombe local government Auditor General of the party, Hon. Mahmud Mohammed Wafa has dumped the PDP for the opposition NNPP in the State.
He disclosed his defection while speaking with journalists after his meeting with the NNPP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Hon. Khamis Ahmed Mailantarki in his Abuja residence.
He said, he joined the NNPP to rescue the state from the APC’s led government that has downgraded the state to a hopeless situation.
He said, “Looking at the present debauched situation, we need to put head together to rescue the state from the APC led-government and the PDP has been in disarray and confusion since its primary election in March last year, so it can’t give us the leadership we want.
“It’s obvious with his track records and humility, Mailantarki will provide better leadership in the state compared with those in APC and PDP and NNPP is the only platform that we can leverage to stabilise the state beyond 2023.”
Since the 2023 general elections approaches, prominent politicians particularly from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have continue to join the opposition New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) in Gombe state.
