The 30 year old man Auwalu Hassan shot by a security personnel when Governor Inuwa Yahaya visited Bojude village of Kwami local government area of Gombe State and his family have been neglected after the incidence.
He was shot on the leg, sustained fracture leading to the loss of one of his toes on the fateful day when the governor visited the area recently for his re-election campaign rally.
In an interview with our correspondent, mother of the victim Hadiza Bojude decried that since after the incident, they have been neglected by the government.
She said, there was protest from the youths in the community after the incident, which forced government officials to reached out to the family, apologized and claimed that, it was an accidental discharge.
According to her, the governor later sent the sum of N70, 000 to them as compensation adding that, since then, nobody from the government was sent to see her or his wives and children for some weeks now.
Hadiza stated that her son is the breadwinner of the house as he caters for her, his sisters, two wives and seven children.
She lamented that there is no one to shoulder their responsibilities since he was injured and incapacitated.
She said, “He is our bread winner and he is the one providing everything for us. He was going to the venue of the rally to watch it when the incident happened. He had fracture on his leg as a result and one of his toes was damaged”.
One of his wives Salamatu appealed to the government for more support saying their husband has two wives, seven children in addition to his mother and siblings.
She said, “There is no message from the state government since after the money they first gave us. And he is the one who fends for everyone here. We appeal for more help from the government”.
However, our correspondent gathered that the state government has sponsored the treatment of the victim at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe.
