Dr Faisal Shuaib, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Primary Healthcare Development Agency and associates have begun offering free medical services to over 200,000 people in Nasarawa State.
Shuaib made the disclosure on Saturday at Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area (LGA) during the continuation of campaign tour by APC ahead of 2023 general elections.
He said the gesture was in support of the reelection bid of Gov. Abdullahi Sule and other candidates of APC.
Shuaib explained that the group started the free medical services in Toto LGA on Nov. 28 and had extended to other eight LGAs already.
He said that people from the 13 LGAs of the state would benefit from the medical services that would last for one week in every LGA.
“We are targeting 15, 000 people in every LGA and we will donate our medical equipment and drug to Primary Healthcare Centres in local councils after the one week exercise,” he added.
Shuaib said the outreach was aimed at improving the living condition of the people of the state.
He explained that ” health is wealth” and absence of good health could expose the people to poverty and even death, hence the need for all hands to be on deck to ensure a healthy society.
Shuaib explained that the state government, under Abdullahi Sule, had done a lot to improve the heath of the people and make healthcare services accessible to them.
He added that the medical team in the various LGAs had already carried out surgery, test, counselling and administered drugs to patients free of charge.
He, therefore, called on the people of the state to vote for Gov. Abdullahi Sule again to enable him to continue the good work he had been doing beyond 2023.
Gov. Sule expressed gratitude to Shuaib for the kind gesture and support to better the health of the people.
The governor described Dr Shuaib as a worthy ambassador of Nasarawa State and wished him continued success in his national assignment.
He said the government had introduced State Health Insurance Scheme, expanded and equipped Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) Lafia, built and equipped General Hospitals across the state.
Sule added that he had also consistently recruited medical doctors, pharmacists, nurses to fill in vacancies, to meet world standard of Doctor to Patient ratio.
The governor also promised to build and equip more Primary Healthcare Centres in the state, especially in Karu LGA, to meet the increasing population of the area, as the existing ones had been overstretched.
Sule also assured the people to do more than what he had done in his first tenure if re-elected in 2023.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the party presented its flag bearers for various elective positions in the area to the people.
