The former governor of Jigawa state and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Sule Lamido, has frowned at the inability of the Federal Government to meet the demand of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU).
Lamido who expressed his displeasure on his verified twitter handle states that the loots recovered according to President Buhari led administration is enough to solve the Union’s demand.
He explained that with over 800 billions from Customs every six months plus the Abacha’s recovered money is enough to save the nation’s universities from total collapse.
” I think we have more than enough to meet ASUU’s demand thus save our universities from total collapse,” he stressed.
Recall that the Union embarked on a nationwide strike to compel the Federal Government to implement its 2019 agreement and resolution with the union.
The union also said its demand includes the implementation of the 2013 and 2017 memoranda of understanding (MOU) that are yet to be implemented.
In 2019, the union reached an agreement with the federal government to end its strike that lasted over three months.
