Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara on Wednesday inaugurated Women and Children Welfare Hospital in Tsafe town, Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.
Matawalle, represented by his Deputy, Hassan Nasiha while at the inauguration ceremony in Tsafe, described the project as a good step towards promoting healthcare services delivery in the state.
According to him, the projects were constructed at the cost of N62 million, adding that all building and equipment are up to standard.
“Women and children health is a top priority agenda of our administration under Gov. Matawalle.
“We are determined to use the available resources to ensure effective healthcare services delivery for our people,’’ the governor added.
He commended state ministry for health and Primary Health Care Board for their commitment towards effective healthcare delivery in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar, said the facility was one of the 17 Women and Children Welfare hospitals awarded by Matawalle’s administration across the 14 LGAs of the state.
“This is in addition to the construction of one functional primary health care centre and tricycle ambulances in each of the 147 political wards across the state.
“Recently, the state government approved the recruitment of 700 health workers under primary health care board.
“The ministry for health will continue to collaborate with partners and relevant stakeholders in promoting health care delivery in the state,’’ Abubakar added.
In his remarks, the Emir of Tsafe, Alhaji Muhammad Bawa, described the project as a welcome development.
Bawa said the emirate would help in reducing maternal mortality and various health challenges affecting women and children in the area.
According to him, the emirate will ensure effective monitoring of the hospital, aimed at promoting good service delivery.
Mr Nasir Sa’idu, the Deputy Zonal Director, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, North-West Zonal Office, on behalf of health partners, commended the government’s commitment in promoting primary healthcare services.
Sa’idu assured continued support and cooperation of all partners in the state to ensure effective healthcare services were rendered to citizens in the state.
