Women in Kebbi state have reiterated their satisfaction and support to the ruling All Progressives Congress APC at a Town Hall Meeting held in Birnin Kebbi last Wednesday 9th November 2022 with the Theme: Role of Women in Politics and Elections Process.
The meeting, which was also replicated in Yauri on Thursday 10th November, was part of the activities leading to the official Flag-off of the APC North West Women Campaign.
Convener of the meeting, H.E Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, who is the North West zone coordinator and Kebbi State Coordinator of the APC Women’s Campaign Organization under the leadership of H.E Dr Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, said the meeting was convened to highlight the successes of the party in social development, health and empowerment in Kebbi state and Nigeria. Also to mobilize women for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign.
In her address, Dr Bagudu thanked women for the support given to His Excellency and herself over the last 8 years. Adding that this has spurred the administration of H.E Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu to deliver laudable projects. She asked them to sustain this support for the APC so the trajectory can continue.
Earlier, in a series of goodwill messages, stakeholders including, the Kebbi state APC Women Leader, Haj. Aishatu Gunabi, former commissioner, Hon. Tsahara Bawa, Wives of House of Representatives Members, Wives of State Assembly members, and other stakeholders highlighted the key successes of the current administration across all sectors and called on women to make the necessary moves to ensure continuity by ensuring that APC wins at the 2023 polls.
The Birnin Kebbi event also featured a panel discussion that sought to proffer solutions and paths for social growth through the Participation of Women in Politics, the Fight against Gender-Based Violence, and Entrepreneurship. The session was moderated by Barr. Kudirat Shuaibu with Binta Abdulhamid of HILWA, Stella Abah of IHP, and Zarau Ahmad of Tallafin Mata as discussants.
Other highlights of the occasion were testimonies from the Nigeria For Women Project, a brief lecture on peaceful election by Mal. Nasir Karofi (NOA), and an overview of the ongoing Cares project for social welfare. Over 75,000 women in Kebbi state have enrolled into the Nigeria for Women program where aside from skills and banking literacy, each woman has received a grant of N60,000.00.
Both gatherings were filled to the brim and in attendance were the Wife of the Kebbi State Gubernatorial Candidate, Haj. Nafisa Nasir Idris, Wife of Sokoto APC Gubernatorial Candidate, special adviser on women development, Wives of Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate, Women Groups etc.
In Yauri, Stakeholders at the Local Government Level spoke on achievements of the government and restated their commitments to the APC. Chairman Yauri LG, Hon Bala Gagga thanked the women for kicking of mobilization ahead of the 2023 elections.
