The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has stated that, the Court judgement which stops the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from fielding candidate in the forthcoming 2023 elections as the final nail on the Coffin of the party.
The party in a statement by its state Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau on Tuesday stated that, ahead of the 2023 general elections, again, the Federal High Court, sitting in Gusau, has for the second time nullified the PDP primary election that produced Dr Dauda Lawal Dare as the party’s flagbearer in the state.
It states that, unlike the previous judgement, the court disqualified PDP from fielding a governorshp candidate in Zamfara for the 2023 election.
The statement added, “The ruling delivered by Justice Aminu Bappa Aliyu of Federal High Court, Gusau has affirmed our earlier assertion that PDP in Zamfara is facing serious intra party crisis ranging from party leadership to Governorship candidates where we called on them to put their house in order before joining any race in the state”.
According to the APC, the PDP created the problem for itself as violated the law by failing to comply with the mandatory provision of 21 days notice to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC before conducting the primary election that produced Mr Dauda.
The statement added, “The party that is not practicing internal democracy within its members but dictatorship and always abusing electoral laws and that of their party while nominating their candidate, usually, cannot end well.
“Such a political party cannot also be a match to APC in Zamfara that has been law abiding in all its activities having learnt from its previous bitter experience in the state and has been doing everything to ensure that only the right thing is done including the enthronement of a level playing ground for all political parties to play the game according to the rules.
“Anyone insisting for equity, most come with clean hands, that is the law of fairness and justice and as humans, we must respect this than castigate others.
“We at the APC especially at the Zamfara state Chapter have always urged for orderliness, bringing citizens together for the betterment of our dear state but all we got from the PDP were castigation, allegations upon allegations.
“No doubt, the APC has now been naturally vindicated that it remains the party to beat in Zamfara as it has continued to receive and enjoy the goodwill of the good people of Zamfara.
“We wish to enjoin our ever increasing members and supporters to continue to be law abiding while the state government under the focussed leadership of governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle strives to make life better and easier to the citizens”.
