The immediate past Secretary to the Katsina State Government (SSG), Mustapha Inuwa, has disclosed his reasons for defecting from the All Progressive Congress, APC to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He announced his defection from the ruling party in the state to his supporters in Katsina on Sunday.
It could be recalled that, the former SSG failed to secure the APC governorship ticket during the primaries when he lost to the former Director General (DG) SMEDAN, Dikko Umaru Radda.
Radda was a former Chief of Staff to Governor Aminu Bello Masari before he was appointed to head SMEDAN.
Inuwa served as Gov. Aminu Masari’s administration’s SSG from 2015 till when he resigned and contested in the APC governorship primary election in May 2022.
Addressing his supporters, the former SSG said, he took the decision after he consulted with stakeholders across the state after what transpired during the APC primaries and afterwards.
According to him, he has been sidelined by the APC in all its activities in the state, hence his decision to dump the party to the opposition PDP.
He said, “If you could remember, during the APC governorship primary election in the state, we know all that happened at that time, and at the end a winner was declared.
“We accepted defeat and we promised to support the party’s candidate, after which he visited me and I assured him all the necessary support.
“But unfortunately, since then, I have never been contacted for any function related to the progress of the party in Katsina state, thereby sidelining us from the party.
“This is a clear indication that we are not respected as bonafide members of APC while some people went on saying that they can win elections even without us.
“With this development in the party, we cannot continue in this situation, therefore, myself and all my supporters in the state resolved to leave the party and support the PDP”.
He handed over his campaign office to the PDP and told all his supporters in the state to join the party.
