The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), says it has begun moves to establish a Hajj Training Institute in Nigeria.
The NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, announced this when he led a delegation of the commission on an advisory visit to the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) in Kaduna on Wednesday.
Hassan said that their visit to NBTE was to seek their assistance to facilitate the establishment of the training institute.
“We wish to establish an institute where we intend to formalise the training for those involved in Hajj management and potential pilgrims.
“We have submitted the application and we will follow the process until, by God’s grace, we are able to establish the institute.
According to him, Hajj is a multi-billion dollars industry and as such, it is required to have people who have all round knowledge on what it is all about.
“We also want to use the institute to create employment and be sure there is no room for those who have no reason to be there.
“In the nearest future, we want to ensure that anybody who must be a member of the Hajj family, must be qualified and certified in terms of running any activity associated with the industry,’’ Hassan said.
He thanked the management of NBTE for their cooperation and level of confidence reposed in NAHCON.
He added that in no distance future, they would help them realise their dream.
Responding, the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Dr Masa’udu Kazaure, said the moves of NAHCON would be a giant stride after the project had been completed and set into operations.
He assured them of NBTE’s maximum guidance and cooperation towards achieving the goal and setting a standard, which would uplift the institute’s glory for the benefit of all, if accomplished.
