The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Edo Sector Command, says it has subjected a commercial driver to psychiatric evaluation due to his abnormal attempt to evade arrest.
Mr Henry Benemaisia, Sector Commander of the corps in the state, stated this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Tuesday.
Benemaisia explained that personnel of the corps led by Assistant Route Commander Omo Ogbidi, on Aug. 13, accosted a bus driver along the Benin-Agbor route over Speed Limit Violation (SUV), Driving License Violation (DLV) and Obstructing Marshal on Duty(OMD).
He said that in the process of arrest, the driver went under the patrol vehicle of the corps and refused to come out.
He said, however, that it took the intervention of members of the public to pull the driver from under the vehicle.
The sector commander noted that the conduct of the driver who reeked of alcohol was not normal.
He said that it was in view of this attitude that the sector decided to subject him to psychiatric evaluation, while his vehicle had since been impounded.
