The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Kalu, on Tuesday in Abuja, lamented the passing of Mallam Wada Maida, Board Chairman of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Kalu in a condolence message said that Maida would be remembered for his objectivity in the course of his professional career.
The former governor of Abia commiserated with the government and people of Katsina State, NAN, the Nigerian Guild of Editors and other professional bodies on the loss.
While acknowledging the robust contributions of the deceased to the media profession across the globe, Kalu described the death of Maida as a painful loss not only to the media industry but Nigeria at large.
According to Kalu, the good deeds of the deceased will continue to speak for him.
“The death of Mallam Wada Maida, Board Chairman the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) is a huge loss to the country.
“The deceased contributed to nation building through his professional career and was gentle, calm, objective and forthright in his endeavours.
“The late Maida lived a fulfilled life and left behind worthy legacies,” Kalu said.
He prayed to Allah to grant the deceased Al-Jannah Firdaus and urged the Maida family to take solace in the fact that their late patriarch lived a purposeful life.
