The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Saturday, 13th August, at Bamaina, Jigawa State, showcased its strength to tackle the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2023 elections.
This is in spite of the attendance of some of APC henchmen.
The mainstream opposition party pooled the majority of the creme de la creme of its ranks at the wedding of Surayya, the daughter of the revered peoples democrat and former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido.
She was given in marriage to Yaxud Shehu Danfulani, Zamfara State Commissioner for Commerce and Industries.
At the head of the PDP delegation at the occasion were the Presidential candidate of the party and his running mate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, respectively.
Members of the party’s Board of Trustees led by Sen. Walid Jibril; the National Executive Committee which members lined up behind the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Iyorchia Ayu, were also at the star studded occasion.
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state was accompanied by the state governorship candidate and his running mate, Alhaji Saidu Umar and Sagir Bafarawa, respectively.
Also on the entourage of Gov Tambuwal at the heavily attended wedding solemnization were Commissioners – Isah Bajini, Shuaibu Gwanda Gobir and Akibu Dalhatu, in addition to Sen. Ahmed Muhammad Maccido and Barrister Aminu Shehu Shagari, among others.
Other top-notch politicians at the wedding were: the Governor of Gombe state, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya; former Vice President, Architect Muhammad Namadi Sambo; ex-National Security Adviser (NSA), Gen. Aliyu Muhammad Gusau (rtd); and former ministers of Special Duties and Police Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, respectively.
Also at the event were former Governors of Bauchi Gombe and Kaduna states, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Muazu, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Makarfi, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero and Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo.
Erstwhile legislators in attendance were: Sen. Abdul Ningi, Sen. Lado Danmarke and Farouk Adamu Aliyu, who is a national chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Traditional rulers from Jigawa and neighboring states also graced the wedding.
