The council of Imams and Ulama has called on the security agencies not to be biased in protecting the lives and property of innocent citizens in Southern Kaduna.
The call for the security agencies to be on their feet followed the lingering killings of people in the Southern part of Kaduna state.
The Secretary General, Council of Imams and Ulama, Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu during a briefing in Kaduna on Monday, urged Muslims to resolve any conflict through non violent means, saying that the Council is praying hard for permanent peace in all part of Nigeria.
The group who disclosed its displeasure over the wanton destruction of lives and property, also urged the Media to be fair and balance while reporting the killings in Southern Kaduna.
According to the Council, ” the Media are known to be truthful in their investigations and balance in their reporting, but this is contrary to some of the Nigerian local Media today most of whom will prefer to part with the truth, justice and good consciousness and uphold ethnic, religious sentiments and their selfish interest in reporting.
” The recent killings of more than 100 innocents Muslims in Zango Kataf local government was never reported by any of such media outfits but were quickly in reporting the reprisal attack as massacre of Southern Kaduna Christians. If one may ask. Where is the rule of balancing of report?
” It is clear that some individuals and groups in Southern Kaduna are good in inciting and propagating violence in the area in order to make cheap popularity and to achieve their political interest.”
The Council urged the white paper committee to hasten its assignment and forward its report to the Kaduna state Government for necessary action and implementation.
