Nemesis has caught up with one Abba Haruna who specializes in defrauding Mosques and Islamiyya schools in Jigawa State under a fake Qatar Islamic Support Programme.
The Police in the state have arrested Abba, 21, of Atafi Quarters in Kiyawa Local Government Area.
The Jigawa State Police Command spokeman, ASP Lawan Adamu Shisu, confirmed the arrest, describing the suspect as a crook who specialised in cheating people in the name of Islamic.
Abba Haruna, an indigine of Hadejia Local Government Area, confessed that he committed the crime in various local government areas such as Hadejia, Malammadori, Kaugama, Miga and Jahun, where he usually connived with other people to cheat the public.
Abba told the police that he usually deceived people by carrying along with him a truck of sand to convince them that he is a contractor asked to rebuild their mosque or Islamic school, and, consequently, remove the roofing and all valueable materials including windows and doors, which he sold at unknown locations, saying that he would thrn completely disappear from the location.
Nemesis caught up with him at Kiyawa where, after removing such valuables in a Mosque at Unguwar Gabas ward, he proceeded to another location trying to do the same, but the imam of that Mosque became very suspious of him.
Consequently, the Iman immediately reported the matter to the Police after which the Police invited the suspect (Abba) for questioning, which led to a string of complaints from also other mosque to the Police.
The situation led the Police to make intensive inquiries and investigation after which Abba confessed to the committed the crime.
The police public relations officer Co firmed that the suspect has already been romanded by the Chief Magistrate Court in Kiyawa
When contacted, the Districts Head of Kiyawa, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kiyawa, confirmed the suspect as a fraudster who was in the habit of duping people in the name of Islamic support from Qatar .
Adding that the suspect before his arrest has do e it’s at various places including his home town Hadejia before his arrest in kiyawa.
