In keeping with the state’s tourism line, ‘The New World’, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed the need for Jigawa State to sift ‘someone new’ out of the known crop of politicians as governor in 2023.
“Jigawa needs something and someone new and committed to the development of the state and its people,” the party’s 2023 governorship candidate in the state, Mustapha Sule Lamido, asserted, Tuesday, 21st June, while paying homage to the Emir of Kazaure, Alhaji Najib Hussaini Adamu at his place.
Lamido was in Kazaure in continuation of his statewide tour seeking for blessings, prayers and advises from the traditional leaders and Jigawa critical stakeholders.
The candidate, who is also the Santuraki of Dutse, affirmed his stand to remain calm, steadfast in prayers and be an exemplary son of Jigawa State.
Mustapha Lamido assured the emir that PDP would conduct itself in an orderly, respectful and a peaceful manner while conducting all its campaigns, stressing that PDP would not only be urbane, but also calm and issue-based in all its political campaigns.
He promised to, God willing, uplift the standard of the state by cooperating and liaising with the traditional institutions if elected as the governor of Jigawa state, stressing that he would do everything possible to move the state forward.
In his reaction, the Emir, Alhaji Najib Hussaini Adamu urged the people of the state to be faithful, God fearing, law abiding, peace loving as well as be their brothers keepers.
He appealed for more women inclusion in politics, maintaining that women need to be carried on board in contest and winning of elective positions as lawmakers were they will be part of law or policy making, especially in public fund appropriation and child protection.
