Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki, a former member of the House of Representatives, was declared as the gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Gombe state.
The returning officer, Shuaibu Pindiga, declared Mailantarki as the winner, being the sole governorship candidate of the party in the state.
Mailantarki, emerged through a voice votes to clinched the party’s ticket during a primary election held on Monday in Gombe.
Pindiga said all the accredited delegates of the party affirmed Mailantarki as flag bearer of the NNPP for the 2023 gubernatorial election.
He will slug it out with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Muhammad Jibril Barde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mailantarki represented Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency at the National Assembly between 2011 and 2025.
