Barr. Sabiu Muhammad has emerged as the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate for Gombe north senatorial district with 138 votes.
Chairman of the electoral committee announced this at the end of the primary election in Gombe on Sunday.
He said that 148 votes were cast out of which Barr. Sabiu got the highest of 138 votes to defeat Engr. Sa’ad Abubakar who received 7 votes.
Three votes were invalid, he said.
“Based on this result, it is my singular honour to declare this evening that Barr. Sabiu Muhammad scored the highest votes in this contest and is declared candidate for Gombe north senatorial district,’’ he said.
Barr. Sabiu to face incumbent Senator Saidu Ahmed Alkali of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo in the PDP.
Gombe North senatorial district consists of five local government areas of Gombe, Kwami, Dukku, Nafada and Funakaye.
