The police in Jigawa State have arrested a retired military officer in connection with the death of one Suleiman Ibrahim, 37, at Kofar Bai, Birnin Kudu town of the state.
The arrest of Abba Ado Ahmed, whose age and military rank on retirement has not been mentioned, was facilitated by a report made to the police by Saidu Alhaji, 30, a brother of the deceased.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa Police Command, ASP Lawan Shisu Adam, confirmed the arrest, saying that immediately the report was received, a team of policemen was despatched to the scene, which immediately rushed the body of the deceased to the Federal Medical Center, Birni Kudu, where he was certified dead as a result of deep knife cuts inflicted on his body.
The police spokesman said the remains of Suleiman Ibrahim has since been released to his family for burial.
ASP Adam said Abba Ado Ahmed,bfound to be a retired military officers, was arrested in connection with the death of Ibrahim.
He explained further that investigation has commenced on the matter and the case would be transferred to SCID Dutse for discreet investigation as directed by the commissioner of police
According to the police public relations officer the suspect would be charged to court for proscution after investigation to serve as deterrent to others
Our reporter visited the mother of late suleiman Ibrahim, Hajiya Hadiza T Abdulwahab, a former Jigawa State, Commissioner of Women Affairs, who confirmed the dead of her son.
Daylight Reporters reliably gathered that Abba Ado Ahmed is a relation to late Suleiman Ibrahim, and that he allegedly inflicted knife cuts on him after an exchange of words, leading to his death.
