Gov. Umaru Ahmed Fintiri of Adamawa State has called on the National Assembly (NASS) to expedite the passage of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Trust Fund bill.
Fintiri made the appeal on Wednesday at the Passing Out Parade (POP) of 355 Corps Members of the 2021 Batch A Stream II, deployed to Adamawa State, marking the successful completion of their one Year mandatory Service to the Nation, at Mahmud Ribadu Square Yola.
When passed into law, the bill, according to the governor, will boost skill acquisitions, youth employment, and trigger National development.
The Governor congratulated the scheme for the recent successful launching of the NYSC Radio and Television which he noted will help in publicizing the scheme’s activities as well as serving as training grounds for Corps Members.
Fintiri apprised the Corps Members that their one year of service has been a blessing and rewarding to Adamawa and their patriotic spirit and selfless efforts have added value to the socioeconomic and well-being of their various places of primary assignment and the communities, he added that their contributions in the areas of Education, Health and Infrastructure in their respective places of primary assignments are commendable and praiseworthy.
The Governor acclaimed that the manifestation of the youth service has made the Corps Members to the realities of life during the one-year service which will equip them for the future and admonished them to make the best use of the knowledge obtained to become self-reliant.
The Chairman Governing Board of the NYSC and Commissioner of Youths and Sports represented by Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development Hon. Iliya James called on the corps members to develop more trade skills.
The State Coordinator of NYSC, Malam Ibrahim Mohammed Tukur applauded the Governor for the construction of the ongoing 4.6km Road to the permanent Orientation Camp Damare as well as concrete perimeter fencing of the camp.
He appreciated the various organizations and host communities for giving the Corps Members the prolific terra firma to release their potential and contribute to the meaningful development of the State.
