A renown philanthropist and politician, Isyaku Jamil Gwamna, has urged governments at all levels to create an enabling environment for the youth population of the country to strive.
He stated that with a favourable atmosphere and the inclusion of the youths in governments’ policies would free the society of crimes.
This was contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Sani Abubakar and made available to newsmen on Wednesday.
According to Jamil in the statement, today, on International Youth Day, I join the world in celebrating the potential and power of young people in shaping the future of our increasingly interconnected world.
“I salute the Gombe state youths for their brilliant and unique attainments in various areas of human endeavor.
“Youths of every nation and state, are its greatest assets and trustees of posterity because he who owns the youth gains the future.
“It’s a fact, that when the potentials of young men and women are finally put to effective use, we will witness a turn around that is so good and glaring, that nations and states will come learning from us.
“In line with the theme of this year’s celebration “Young Engagement for Global Action” I therefore urge our governments at various levels to intensify their commitments towards providing opportunities for young people to ensure they are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but also change agents of today.
“I also call on our teeming youths in Gombe state and Nigeria at large, to engage in meaningful development and shun drugs and other illicit ventures.”
