An Ilesa Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 30-year-old man, Adedeji Adekunle, over alleged theft of goods worth N185,000.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Femi Adewale, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 30, 2022 around 9:30 p.m. at Orita-Ileki, Ileki Ijesa via Ifewara within Ilesa Magisterial District.
Adewale said that the defendant stole one generator, one pumping engine, one change over and some wires all valued at N185, 000, property of Aleki of Ileki Ijesa, Oba Adekunle Adenipekun.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.
Magistrate Adejumoke Omoniyi did not grant the defendant bail, saying that it would serve as deterrent to others.
Omoniyi ordered for the remand of the defendant in Ilesa Correctional Centre.
He adjourned the case until April 15, for hearing.
