The Police on Thursday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Dabiru Ado at a Kano Sharia Court for alleged breach of trust.
The defendant, who lives at Sheka Yar’Kasuwa Quarters Kano, is facing a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Nafiu Shuaibu, of Samegu Quarters, reported the matter at the Fagge Police Station, Kano, on March 28.
Wada said that the complainant entrusted 11 jerricans of groundnut oil, one jerrican of red oil worth N330,000 to the defendant to deliver them to his customers.
He noted that Shuaibu (complainant) later discovered that the defendant only delivered 11 jerricans and kept one jerrican for his own personal use.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 202 and 206 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Dr Bello Khalid, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N30,000 with one reliable surety.
Khalid adjourned the matter until April 15 for mention.
