A 22-year-old woman, Ishola Kofoworola, on Thursday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing and converting the sum of N822, 200 to her personal use.
Kofoworola, of no fixed address, is facing a one-count charge of stealing by conversion.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 22, at Rotimi Makinde Street, Itamaga area in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Famuyiwa alleged that the defendant collected the sum of N822, 200 from Rodef Initiative for Economic Development in Ikorodu but converted same to her personal use.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 280(b) and punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which stipulates three years’ jail term if found guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr. A.O Ogbe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
The magistrate adjourned the case until April 28 for mention.
