Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Ijanikin, now Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) has matriculated 1,125 full-time NCE students for the 2021/2022 academic session.
The Provost of the college, Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, said this during the matriculation ceremony in Lagos on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the set of NCE matriculated students would be the last for AOCOED due to the transmutation of the college to a university.
Lafiaji-Okuneye advised the matriculating students to abide by the standard behaviour, ethics, virtue, and norms of the college.
“Keep to the official promises of loyalty, good conduct, honesty, not involving in examination malpractices which are carefully arranged in the solemn oath.
“Pursue your academic desire with determination and aspire to be successful within the ambit of the rules and regulations provided by the college.
“As professional teachers, you should behave well at all times; be humble; dress neatly and responsibly,” she said.
Lafiaji-Okuneye said that the establishment of the University of Education could not be more apt, given the educational need of the people of Lagos State.
“The observed limited capacity box Lagos State University has to admit all the qualified candidates for university education in Lagos underscored the transmutation of the former college into the new university.
“The college’s surrender value at the moment, particularly in the area of human capacity and infrastructure facilities are unprecedented.
“Furthermore, the presence of the overwhelming infrastructure facilities in the college sufficiently justifies the readiness of the college for the transmutation into a university.
“Far ahead of its contemporaries, the college’s top-flight administrators, who provide the needed administrative support are ever committed and our top-notch academics are always at the top of their forms,” she said.
