A 27-year-old man, Abdullahi Garba, was on Monday arraigned in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over attempted murder.
Garba, who gave no fixed address, appeared on a single charge of attempted murder.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police prosecutor, ASP Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 21, at Marwa Garden, Lekki.
Iseghede said that the defendant stabbed the complainant with a knife on his stomach during a brawl.
He said offence contravened Section 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Section 230 prescribes life imprisonment if convicted.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Ikobayo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a blood relation of the defendant.
The court remanded the defendant at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, Lagos, pending the perfection of his bail and adjourned the case until April 14, for further mention.
