The first civilian governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura, has thrown his weight behind a second tenure for the incumbent Governor Muhammad Bello Matawalle ahead of the 2023 elections.
Receiving the state All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani at his Asokoro, Abuja residence, Senator Sani declared that with Governor Matawalle on the seat, there is no vacancy in the Zamfara Government House in 2023.
Sen. Sani, who is reputed as the state’s political leader, noted that with Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle on the state’s exhalted seat and the good things he is doing in the state, he will continue to enjoy the position for the second time.
The Zamfara strongman urged the state’s new APC leadership to continue to work towards the success of the party throughout the state in future elections.
He urged the leadership to ensure the full unity of all members of the party through inclusiveness and consultations without giving room for any grievances.
Sen. Sani maintained assured that there would be no imposition or favoured candidates and, therefore, interested candidates should seek supporters who could guarantee them victory at the polls.
He appealed to the party leaders to conduct themselves with the fear of God.
Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani, said he was at the Senator’s residence, along with some members of his executive council, to thank him for his continued support and fatherly roles in the growth and development of the APC and the state.
The promised to be fair to all members of the party, saying that he would always be guided by the constitutional provisions of the party and the positive advices of stakeholders in discharging his duties and responsibilities.
