Former Governor of Jigawa State and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has decried the heightening spate of insecurity across the country, describing it as Nigeria’s “Satanic Normal”.
In a short comment he posted on his Facebook page, titled:
“NIGERIA’S NEW EVIL AND SATANIC NORMAL!!” the former Foreign Affairs Minister said raging insecurity has tattered the enviable respect the country hitherto commanded in the global community.
“Even in our civil war time Nigeria had a standing in the world and is fully respected,” he recalled, bemoaning, “Just stop for a while and think of Nigeria of today where fellow human beings are screened out on tribal basis in a market place in the domain of the Caliphate and slaughtered in their tens.”
Lamido cited more dastardly instances of insecurity.
“A bus on a highway is bombed or stopped and all the passengers burnt to ashes; worshippers in a mosque or church are slaughtered with glee; and citizens both the low and the high have been turned into articles of merchandise through kidnapping,” he said.
The PDP strongman complained of the existence of markets in Nigeria “where human parts ( eyes, tongue, heart etc) are offered for sale.”
He recalled that a railway track was bombed to stop trains to be robbed, decrying further: “the main highway linking our Capital Abuja to the North and neighboring countries of Tchad, Niger Cameroon Republics is shut down by bandits for four days.”
Lamido described the list of evils as endless, maintaining: “As a people we have simply put, lost our Human essence!”
He observed: “By the sordid occurrences of events today, it is conceivable that the thin membrane covering and protecting Nigerian heads has torn away and every evil and Satanic thinking is feasible and admissible!” querying, “Otherwise how can the current insanity now be accepted and settled as our new normal?”
