The immediate past Chairman of Nafada Local Government Council of Gombe State, Hon. Bappah Dadum Hamza, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing journalists shortly after his defection in Gombe on Thursday, November 18, 2021, the former Chairman, who was also the member, representing Nafada North in the first and second assembly, said his decision to dump the APC was not to sabotage anyone but to protect his political career and the interest of his teeming supporters.
Hon. Hamza said the people of the state were yearning for better leadership that would improve their standard of living, hence his decision to rejoin the PDP.
“I am happy to formally announce our decision to dump the APC and join the PDP together with my teeming supporters,” he said.
He, however, explained that he holds no grudges against the state governor, the deputy governor or any other member of the ruling party.
In another development, a board member of the Gombe Media Corporation (GMC), Hon. Garba Inuwa Akoma Gona, has resigned his appointment.
Hon. Garba, in a short video trending on the social media, said he resigned based on some reasons which he’ll make known to the public at a later date.
“Today, 13th November, 2021, based on strong reasons, I resign my appointment as a member of the Board of Gombe Media Corporation (GMC).
It would be recalled that the APC in the state has been divided into the camp loyal to the former governor of the state, Senator Danjuma Goje, and that of Governor Inuwa Yahaya. Senator Goje was recently attacked by armed youths on his way to the town from Gombe International Airport. Seven persons were reported to have died in the attack.
