Bauchi state government has appealed to citizens to remain calm and not to take law into their hands following the killing of a woman in the volatile Tafawa Balewa local government area of the state.
Secretary to the state government Ibrahim Muhammad Hashim made the appeal in a press release he issued Tuesday night.
In the press release, he revealed that government had received a security report from the local government of the killing of an innocent woman the area.
It will be recalled that Tafawa Balewa local government area of the state faced series of ethno-religious crises in the past that led to the relocation of the local government headquarters by the state house of assembly during the administration of former governor Isa Yuguda to Bununu town to protect the lives of staff and property of the local government.
The state government who condemned the dastardly act, lamented that it was coming at a time the government was working assidously to consolidate on the succeses made in providing security to the people.
“It is disheartening that this achievements is being threatened by
forces of darkness who are hell-bent on unleashing mayhem on unsuspecting members of the public
“While condemning this act, let it be unequivocally stated that government will continue to work with security agencies in order to provide sustainable peace across the state”. He said.
The SSG who disclosed that so far some arrests were made added that security agents commenced investigation into the matter.
“Government is therefore calling on our people to remain calm, resist the temptation to take the law into their own hands and assist security agencies by providing useful information that will help to crack down the criminals.
“Finally, we assure the public that no stone will be left unturned in unearthing, arresting and dealing with the culprits decisively in accordance with the law.
“Government will continue to discharge its primary responsibly of protecting the lives and property of the citizenry”. He assured.
However, details on the incident was scanty as at the time of filing in this report.
