Delta state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Patrick Ukah who Confirmed this to our Correspondent on Tuesday on telephone in Asaba, said that classes for the Senior Secondary Students had resumed on Tuesday after four months vacation due to the Covid-19 Pandemic disease.
Ukah explained that modalities had been emplaced to ensure the wellbeing of students and teachers, adding that only 20 Students would be accommodated per Class to ensure the physical distancing protocol as stipulated by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control ( NCDC) while 5,697 personnel had been trained to ensure Compliance
He said that the state government had made arrangements for the Provision of functional water facilities, body thermometers, Sanitizers, and Sickbays across all the schools as well as the establishment of rapid response Centers in 25 Local Government Area in cases of distress, adding” all schools in the state had been fumigated and mowed, and government had taken proactive measures to forestall and handle incident relating to Covid-19 Pandemic disease or other health challenges, We have monitoring team that will move around regularly for five weeks that the students will have to be in School and we will intervene where the need be”
The Commissioner disclosed that electricity generators had also been provided to pump water in about 46 schools with power Challenges, even as he stressed that all necessities were met by the state government as it concerns Covid-19 Pandemic disease protocols and resumption of schools in the state
Recall that all educational institutions in the state have remained closed Since March 26,2020 when Governor Ifeanyi Okowa ordered a statewide lockdown as part of measures to prevent an out break of Covid-19 in the state.
