A political group known as ‘APC youth progressives forum, has hailed the new local governments executives of the party who emerged nationwide after the last Saturday’s congresses.
National chairman of the group Honourable Ukkasha Hamza Rahama who addressed newsmen Monday in Bauchi on the outcome of the congresses urged the new executives to support the aspiration of the former governor of Nassarawa state governor Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura as the next national chairman of the party.
He claimed that Almakura is among the oldest members of the party and a popular politician ‘being the only candidate who won governorship seat under the umbrella of the defunct Congress for Progressives Congress (CPC)’ in the country that later merged with other parties to form the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, their candidate could help the APC to retain power beyond 2023 if he eventually emerges as the next chairman.
“The party members waited anxiously to see this giant stride in the party’s success on its internal democracy as enshrined in the party’s constitution. This is indeed a road to success and strength upon strength ahead of 2023 general elections.
“I therefore urged those that won, to carry everyone along because, the success belongs to all and those who could not make it should not portray themselves as losers but as winners for the fact that, the party is successful and also solicit you to pick up the torchlight of courage and moved forward.
“We should accept the fact that there is no party without crisis especially a political party that controls the federal government, majority of the states, the senate and house of representatives. We should be grateful on that and consolidate on our success”. He said.
