No one is in doubt that Nigeria is at crossroad. The country is facing multitude of problems in its corporate existence and in its socioeconomic development.
What does these grim outlook mean for Nigeria?
It means the country has the problem of leadership – deficit. The nation’s challenges were further compounded by security matters which in the long run heightened stippled national growth.
The challenge of insecurity in the form of banditry, insurgency and Boko Haram terrorism is so enormous. On the other hand, there is persistent and extreme urgings for the nations dismemberment and series of calls for the restructuring of the nation’s polity. People are living with palpable fear in their minds and uncertainties of continued survival.
All these agitations and growing insecurities are as a result of real or perceived injustices, which are tied to bad and poor Leadership.
Of course, for the country to record tremendous progress and its people continue to live in peace, justice must be seen to be carried out at the centre of all its activities, since without justice nothing positive could be achieved and the country will have no peace.
These are the more reasons why Nigerians must rise above all sentiments and elect the right person that has the wits and guts to lead the country in 2023.
When the country get a right leadership, significant challenges of governance and management of the nation’s diversity would be put to rest. No doubt about this.
For good or for bad, in Nigeria, the political class is sharply divided into two: the progressive elements and the reactionary politicians.
Dr. Sule Lamido, is a former executive governor of Jigawa State, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, a former lawmaker and a principled politician. As fire brand politician he is always identified as an epitome of progressive politics, which the country is desperately looking for in order to put its acts right. This is a man that has come through thick and thin in life and passed through many trials, tribulations and accomplishments. But all his focus is on how to make life better for the common man.
With his clear picture and understanding of the challenges facing the country, and as one of the most politically savvy and engaging politicians in the country, the country stand a better chance with Dr. Lamido as its president. If Nigerians will give him the chance to lead the country in 2023, all the challenges of insecurity and poor leadership would become history.
By giving him the chance, Nigerians won’t be disappointed. He can lead and fix the country.
No one needs to be told that since 1999 when political leadership returns to Nigeria, the democracy is at no time more fragile than the current situation.
The situation is already tough, people are gradually losing confidence in leaders and in governments, hence requiring capable hands who are very tough in dealing with issues.
Lamido is an exceptional leader with a lot of wits and drive that can help propel the country out of its current difficulties. He is a politician so endeared to the people. In all places he served the country, he left positive footprints. He can address tough issues and bring smiles to all the countrymen irrespective of their affiliations.
With good leadership, Dr. Sule Lamido, has bailed out Jigawa state from its state of under development to a more prosperous and stable state. He has used his vast international experience to run the state while acting locally to meet the basic needs of the people, transparently and without compromising standards.
Nigeria is in desperate need of a good leader that can bring the people together and manage the nation’s diversities and its resources fairly and equitably.
One important thing with a good leader is that he knows his allies – people and organizations who are in support of what he do and will work together with them to achieve his goal. He is the one that earns people’s confidence.
This cap fits Dr. Lamido.
Thatis why a wider jurisdiction to govern the country will give him the authority to lead the country’s affairs transparently, which will eventually translate into good for the people.
The most fascinating thing about him is his consistent principles.
He is one of the eight founding fathers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one of the three remaining surviving members who formed the party and attracted crème de la crème of Nigerian politicians to win for the party the Presidential position in four consecutive elections. Among the eight founding members of the party now, Lamido is the last man standing without any attempt to cross carpet or leave the party entirely. Five of the founding members are now late, while the remaining two have gone into oblivion.
Another good quality of Lamido, is his strong interpersonal relationship with others. He believes in working with like minds in the political circle to bring about development to the people irrespective of their tribal, religious or regional affiliations.
Leadership is all about good governance, and if consistency, humility, focus and vision are factors that matter in leadership, then the principle stand of Lamido to politics and good governance can give him automatic ticket to carry PDP’s flag in the next presidential election. In fact that principle will forever remain his strong point.
From available record so far, one of the most disturbing issues about the future of Nigeria’s continued existence as a united country, is its inability to workout a system that can guarantee fairness in the generation, allocation and distribution of resources. Lamido as a visionary leadership has a midas touch has done creditably well in Jigawa State. He did it as the state governor and can replicate the same if given the chance to lead Nigeria by ensuring proper application of the rule of law, justice, equity and equality of opportunity for all citizens.
With his versatile global exposure, principled politics and leadership acumen, Dr. Lamido will manage the diversities in the country and make all the citizens to have a sense of belonging in a manner that will bring about democratic stability and socioeconomic development that’s beneficial to all.
The year 2023 is almost around the corner. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has woefully failed the nation. The party has failed to meet all its promises of securing the country, of providing jobs to unemployed and of ensuring equitable and fair distribution of national resources.
With the present economic challenges and poor management of political issues, it is imperative the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must warmup to take back the mantle of leadership in the next general election. But to do this and earn the confidence of the Nigerian citizens, right candidate must be presented as the party’s flag bearer.
If PDP stakeholders were to be counselled, then there is need to work round the clock towards the emergence and presentation of Dr Sule Lamido, as the party’s flag bearer in 2023.
He is undoubtedly, the most suitable material of all the aspiring and presidential hopefuls in the party. So far, those aspiring to carry the party’s flag are either serial losers or are no match to Dr. Lamido.
In fact, Dr. Lamido will, through good governance, nurture conducive environment for peaceful coexistence and pro actively facilitate stable socioeconomic development, which has become so elusive in the country and a source of increasing agitation for the country’s dismemberment.
Nigerians are looking for equity and justice in the division of authority and resources among its federating units and only good leadership can guarantee this.
In the match towards 2023 and going by his pedigree, Dr. Lamido has no challenger. He can make it – first to win the Presidential seat for the party (PDP) and then to offer good leadership to Nigerians when elected.
