A Political Pressure Group known as Safe Misau Emirate (SME) has appealed to a young politician, Engineer Yusuf Garba to contest for the post of house of representatives for Misau/Dambam Federal constituency in Bauchi state come 2023.
The Spokesman of the group, Comrade Umar Idris in an interview with our Correspondent on Saturday threatened that they will not hesitate to sue their preferred candidate to court if he refused to comply.
According to the group, the decision to pick interest in Engineer Garba to represent them at the National Assembly was due to his track record when he held sway as public relations officer of National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS) as well as a one time president, Misau Emirate Students Association (MESA).
Comrade Umar said that the group comprising of thousands of members that cut across political parties in the two local governments will overwhelmingly vote for Engineer Garba if he comes out to contest for the position in 2023.
He said that the group been aware that Misau has served for four consecutive terms, felt it was high time that the other part of the constituency take over in the interest of equity and fair play.
“Political office is not like a private industry owned by an individual in such a way that one particular person will continuesly occupy the seat while others continue to watch, it has to go round for equity and fair play so that people will feel sense of inclusiveness”, he said.
He said for some time now, development has eroded the constituency due to the fact that the youth have been schemed out of the game, assuring that, as a young politician, Misau and Dambam would witness a lot of development if their anointed candidate is elected as a representative.
