Mohammed Jibrin Danbarde, an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart in Gombe State who recently dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the award of best State in ease of doing business conferred on Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.
Danbarde, who came second during APC’s Governorship primary election in 2019 said Governor Inuwa does not deserve the award because it does not reflect the reality on ground.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya was presented with the award of the best performing State and number one in the ease of doing business among the 36 States and the FCT by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa on 27th June, 2021, during the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)’s 4th award dinner, but Danbarde said it was an unmerited award.
According to him, Gombe is not a good example of a state with ease of doing business because business men and their capital have been dissipated.
He told newsmen after a meeting with officials of the PDP at it’s Secretariat that, “there is currently massive withdrawal of ownership of lands that belong to orphans, businessmen, families in Gombe” as such, eroding so many confidence and resources of people who have invested in lands. “Do you call that ease of doing business?”, he queried.
He wondered further: “who will come and invest in Gombe? If I invest my capital in doing business and suddenly government comes and takes it, do you call that ease of doing business?”
Danbarde, who said he left the APC because of bad governance in the State under Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, added that what Gombe State is witnessing today is “a government of a person, by a person, for a person and not the government of the people, for the people, by the people”, as democracy dictates.
He further berated Governor Inuwa for unguarded statements which he said could incite unrest in the State or cause division among the otherwise interwoven, interrelated people of the State.
In his words, “leadership is a sacred trust that has been entrusted by our forefathers in our hands, that trust must be carried along and protected at whatever cost for the brighter future of the State.
“What I have gathered when I went round is that the people want good governance but unfortunately, what we have in Gombe State at the moment is bad governance,” he stressed.
Earlier, State Chairman of the PDP, Maj Gen Amnon Kalayi Kwaskebe (rtd), described the coming of Danbarde into the party as the result of relentless hard work by the party to correct it’s past mistakes.
“We have been working relentlessly to correct our past mistakes and our people are coming back home and he is one out of so many that are on their way back. Many have returned we will formalize their return,” he assured.
