Let me start my first of all reiterating my loyalty and respect of our different cultures and our traditional institutions most especially the historical tools like that of Oluwo. The Iwo Kingdom is a traditional state based on the city of Iwo in Osun State, Nigeria. The Yoruba kingdom, whose ruler is titled “Oluwo of Iwo”, was established in the 14th century AD. This tell us the very rich history of the traditions of the Yoruba people in the South West.
The recent statement attributed to this great question has left us in another confusion and it speaks the highest level of conspiracy of both the Political and traditional leaders in the South West region. I tagged this short piece,Where was Oluwo to expose the level of conspiracy in the atrocities committed by igboho that left many deaths and created alot of tensions in the country.
There are unpatriotic elements in all the regions of the country that are guilty of wrongdoing and have attributed their motives to Northerners by pointing accussing fingers that the Northern Political and traditional leaders are funding as well as Protecting Boko Haram and bandits. This is because they have compromised and have chosen to support their criminals perpetrating evils in the South West region. The Oluwo of Iwo has decided to speaks and apologies on behalf of the dreaded leader of another emerging terror groups Sunday Igboho. This is another attempt to employ all sorts of subterfuge and blackmailing tactics to shield the runaway/hidden Sunday Igboho along his fellow contemporaries from reaping what they have planted.
Many right thinking Nigerians are shocked with this move by this move by Oluwo to shield this criminal from facing the law having commited countless attroticities that will send him to jail. Where was the Oluwo when this same Sunday Igboho sacked Nigerian security personnel, killing some of them at Idi-Oroko border, proclaiming the area as a part of Oduduwa Republic? It was least of my expectations that inspite of the terrorist and treasonable activities of Sunday Igboho, A respected and prominent Nigerian with the status of Oba in the entire South West region will summon this courage will plead with President Muhammadu Buhari to forgive a criminal of this magnitude.
His Royal Majesty, Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi has never for once condemn the activities of the criminals he is today pleading on his behalf. I wonder where the respected Oba was when Igboho led a gang of armed thugs to a Fulani settlement, which has been existing for over five decades, in Iganga, burnt down the village and killed innocent women and children and arrested a bed-ridden 70-year old, blind man, whom he alleged was the leader of the imaginary ‘killer-herdsmen.
We believe in the Nigerian Project and in achieving this great task where fairness, equity and justice shall reign then our collective bargaining for peace and unity should not be compromise along our religion and ecthnic dimensions. The Oluwo’s letter to the president pleading with the President to forgive a criminal who was on the verge of distroying Nigeria left us with too many unanswered questions. He hasn’t speak when this mindless criminal was killing and causing Nigerians sleepless nights which means that his silent was intentional.
