National Secretariat of Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN); an affiliate of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has congratulated Sports Writers, Nigerians and Muslims in particular on the occasion of the 2020 Eld-El-Kabir celebration.
As the Association celebrates with Muslims across the country, its equally states that a good life does not come out of nowhere. It is created by humility, patience, sacrifice and prayers, urging Nigerians to hold on to these virtues in the interest of the nation.
This is in a statement jointly signed by the President of the Association, Comrade Ahmed Aigbona and the Secretary General, Comrade Mike Oboh, which was made available to newsmen on Thursday evening.
In the statement, Aigbona prayed that may Nigerians’ prayers at this season enhance the life of the country forever.
While wishing Nigerian Muslims safe and happy Eld-El-Kabir, Aigbona urged them to celebrate the Sallah in conformity with COVID-19 safety protocols.
According to the statement, SWAN commends Nigerians for their cooperation with the government so far in the attempts being made to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, in spite of all the inconveniences and hardships.
“Our prayer is that those who are sick of the pandemic will recover very soon and those who lost their loved ones will be comforted by the Almighty Allah,” Aigbona said.
He further prayed that may joy and love envelop Nigerians this season. May the warm moments of the season bring peace, fulfilment, happiness and cheer into Nigerians’ life and make it brighter.
The SWAN President urged Nigerians to be more patriotic to their fathers’ land and shun any form of discrimination amongst one another.
” We must be united for the good and progress of the country,” the statement concluded.
