The people of Gombe Central Senatorial District of Gombe state and some chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have called on Senator Muhammed Danjuma Goje to contest the 2023 senatorial election.
The call was made earlier today at Kumo township stadium during an event organised by a group politicians from the zone to unveil Sen. Goje’s political legacies.
Speaking with Daylight Reporters on the event, leader of the group, Hon. Bello Suleiman, said they have unveiled Sen. Goje’s legacies for other politicians and upcoming generations to emulate his impactful and people-oriented politics.
“Today, we’ve celebrated and unveiled the numerous achievements and impacts made by our leader, Sen. Goje, in the development of our zone, Gombe state and Nigeria at large, so that our politicians and upcoming generation of leaders will have something to emulate.
Speakers at the event called on the senator to either accept their demand to re-contest or prepare to face legal action if he declines.
Chairman of the Akko local government council, Hon. Abubakar Barambu, who spoke on behalf of his people, urged Sen. Goje to re-contest and threatened to sue him if he rejects the plea.
“On behalf of the people of Akko local government, whom I’m representing here, I was asked to tell his excellency, the governor that Sen. Goje isn’t tired. If he’s tired, we aren’t tired because we still need him and his services.
“On behalf of the people of Gombe central; Akko and Yamaltu Deba, we’re calling with a resounding voice that it is a necessity for Sen. Goje and the governor to re-contest.
“I beg his email and distinguished Senator to calmly re-contest so that we would vote for them again. God willing they’ve mercy on us and agree that’s all, there’s no quarrel between us and if anyone of them rejects, honestly, we the people of Akko and Yamaltu Deba, I’ll personally lead us to seek legal redress,” he said.
In the same vein, chieftain of the party, Bala Bello Tinka, has pledged to obtain nomination and expression of interest forms for Sen. Goje.
According to him, “We are here to unveil the achievements of our leader, Sen. Goje, former member, ministers, governor and elected senator.
“I want to call on those who are going to court to jettison the idea. As loyal and obedient sons of our parents, we don’t have to take the legal option. We should unanimously meet the governor and ask him to give us Sen. Goje’s ticket and if there’s need, I’ll personally obtain his form.”
Notable among the projects mentioned are; Gombe State University, Gombe International Airport, Gombe Township Stadium, Dadinkowa Water Treatment Plant, major roads both rural and urban, Gombe International Hotel and Jewel Hotel Abuja.
