The Appeal Court in Benin, has set aside the judgement of the Edo State High Court, on the ground that the credentials forgery allegation levelled against the APC running mate in the September 2020 governorship election, Alhaji Gani Audu could not be substantiated with evidence beyond doubt.
The three-member panel of the appellate court today also declared that the suit was statute-barred, since it was filed outside the 14-day constitutional threshold, thereby upholding the appeal of Ize-Iyamu and Audu, while setting aside the judgment of the Edo high court.
Appeal Court’s Justices O. F. Omoleye, B.A. Georgewill and O. E.Oho unanimously declared their disqualification judgement by the High Court as null and void.
