The Senior Special Assistant on Empowerment, Comrade Khalid Garba Barau to the Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed has been appointed as a member of the committee on youth engagements, priorities and inclusion in governance in Nigeria set up by the Northern States Governors’ Forum.
The chairman of the forum and governor of Plateau state, Simon Lalong who inaugurated the committee at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House Kaduna, tasked members to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Lalong said the forum at its meeting with the chairmen of northern states traditional rulers council came up with a number of resolutions one of which is the constitution of a committee to examine and articulate youth engagements, priorities and inclusion in governance in Nigeria and in the north in particular.
According to him, the terms of reference of the committee are to work out various ways of engaging the youths in the North at different levels, propose different programmes for youth development and to identify and develop different platforms for youth inclusion in the governance architecture in Nigeria.
He asked them to submit report within eight weeks for further deliberations.
Comrade Khalid Barau who was nominated by governor Bala Mohammed to represent Bauchi state at the committee, expressed gratitude to the forum for finding him worthy of the task.
He promised to be good ambassador of the state in the discharge of the assignment.
