A former chairman of Kirfi local government of Bauchi state Alhaji Bappa Danmalikin Bara on Tuesday defected from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing journalists, the former chairman said his decision to dump the PDP was due to alleged unfair treatment meted out to him by governor Bala Mohammed who suspended him when he was caretaker chairman for 10 months without fair hearing.
“I was one of the active supporters of PDP during the 2019 electioneering campaign during which I contributed my time, energy and experience in promoting the political ideals but at the end I was treated unfairly.
“Looking at the political trend in the country and after due consultations with my people and other political associates, I decided to decamp from my party PDP to APC as from today 17th November, 2020.
“I also wish to use this medium to thank my political supporters and other associates for their understanding, patience and cooperation throughout the hard time we had together”. He said.
Bara however said that the decision to defect to APC was not to sabotage anyone but to protect the interest of his supporters and his political career
