Zamfara state Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been thrown into political twists and turns since the last election in the state with series of crisis between the warring factions of Senator Marafa and former governor, Yari taking a different dimension on daily basis.
While reacting to the claim by the Yari’s faction that Sen. Kabiru Garba Marafa was used by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state against the APC and the purported suspension of Sen. Marafa, the Chairman of the Marafa faction of the APC, Alh. Surajo Garba MaiKatako debunked the claim and cautioned the Mai Mala Buni led National Working Committee of the party not to play with fire, “be wary of sending your party into extinction in Zamfara state.”
‘’The recent claim by the Yari’s self-acclaimed APC Chairman in Zamfara state, Hon Lawal Liman Kaura that Sen. Kabiru Marafa was working for the PDP isn’t only untrue but irresponsible, a figment of his own imagination. It’s an expository fact that Kaura and his paymaster, Yari are the real albatross of the party in the state.
“If anyone is in oblivion and stupor as to what has really happened in Zamfara, it’s on record that it was you and your master Yari, who immersed by ego and desperation conducted parallel primaries in an apparent violation of the constitution of the party and INEC guidelines on primary elections, unfortunately, he later went to court to legalized his illegality and it was the same legal battle he initiated that caused the party all the elective seats in the state.
“It will be recalled that, since 2018, Yari and his group were expelled by the state chapter of the APC during the party’s congresses when they failed to obey the constitutional provisions of the party and I’m sounding a strong warning to Kaura to henceforth stop parading himself as the state party Chairman.
“It was the same Kaura who was acting a script designed by Yari that was shown on national television (Channels TV) with Yari sitted by his side shamelessly announcing results of primary elections they illegally conducted in 2019. A caricature and charade primary election done against the party’s constitution and flouting the laidown rules and procedures.
“How can Kaura, who was the party candidate for the state House of Assembly election and the state chairman of Yari faction of the APC be the one collating and announcing results of primary election they conducted? The tape is there and we will replay it for everyone to see again.
While commenting on Buni’s extended national caretaker committee, Surajo dares him to ratify the purported Marafa’s suspension done by Yari faction and see what will happen. Maikatako also challenged the power and legality of the committee to carry out fresh registration exercise, it is diversionary saying the state chapter stand with their leader Sen Marafa in every thing he said about the committee.
“It’s apparent Buni have not achieved anything, have not reconciled any chapter, the crisis in APC is even bigger than it was when he took over.
“We equally stand on the fact that your continued stay as chairman of the APC committee after taking oth as the Governor of Yobe state is not only unconstitutional but immoral. It’s very obvious that some vested interest are using you to manipulate and disrupt the APC ahead of 2023.
He further stated that, Zamfara state APC under Marafa has always been loyal to the party and will also abide by the party’s constitution and act within the confines of the law. But They’ll always depend ourselves and our collective interest.
Maikatako also said “The state chapter under my leadership met and reviewed the issues of the moment and hereby pass a vote of no confidence on the leadership of Mai Mala Buni and asked him to resign.
