A group, Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition (CS-SUNN), has lamented the increase in the rate of malnutrition, which has led to the death of not less than 124 children in Kaduna State.
This was disclosed by the State Coordinator (CS-SUNN), Mr Silas Ideva at a workshop in Kaduna.
Ideva who emphasized that the death toll record covers from January to September 2020 across the 23 Local Governments of Kaduna State, stressed that malnutrition has been a big factor in the decline of productivity, activeness and vibrancy among the citizens of the state.
He further explained that the scourge has made it an herculean task to build the kind of a proud nation citizens would have been proud of.
Ideva continued by stating that, malnutrition among women and children has so far remain a major challenge to health and human development of the citizens of Kaduna State.
He further blamed this quagmire on the absence of accurate information amongst pregnant women on how to have a balanced diet that will aid the development of the child and the mother, before and after delivery.
He reiterated that a six month breastfeeding would only be of benefit to a child when the mother maintains a healthy diet.
