Police have confiscated almost a ton of pure cocaine that could have been sold for millions of euros in the port of the southern Italian city of Gioia Tauro, authorities said on Thursday.
According to the police, the cocaine could have been cut another four times to be sold at the estimated street value of 186 million euros (219 million dollars).
The drugs were transported in bags hidden in a shipping container carrying frozen mussels from Chile, police said.
The cocaine was wrapped in small packages weighing 930 kilograms in total and police found it with the help of special scanners.
